THE Gisborne District Council has started its annual summer crop survey around the district, designed to quantify how much land is being used for fruit and vegetable production. Council staff will map the crop types and various land uses.
“We get quite a lot of interest in the survey from
the rural community,” said shared services science manager Lois Easton.
“The survey provides information that is of use to croppers, not just the council.”
It will be completed by the end of the month.
