John Minto and other misinformed anti-Zionist antisemites fail to understand the objectives of Hamas-ruled Palestinians and those of Israelis. There are great differences.

Hamas do not want peace. They want to kill Jews. They don’t want Israel. They want to get rid of Israelis. They teach their children how to kill and become suicide bombers. Death is their creed.

The Palestinian authorities have refused every offer of peace from Israel going back to 1947.

Hamas’s own camera footage of the October 7 massacre of Israeli citizens reveals their frenzied delight in the deliberate torture, burning alive and beheading of families. Understandably, this was not shown on the 6pm news. And of course this is no longer news. The media must move on.

Israel’s concern is to defend their own country. The Israeli Defence Forces exist to protect all of Israel’s citizens: Jews, Arabs and the many other nationalities and religions that coexist there. When they respond to rocket attacks from Gaza, they send mobile phone messages and leaflet drops to warn civilians to leave certain buildings. Their aim is to root out Hamas leaders alone, but so often families are compelled by Hamas to remain, becoming human shields.

Israel is often first on the ground giving medical aid to countries hit by natural disasters, regardless of politics. Israel’s creed is “To Life”.

What have the Palestinians achieved other than ensuring that the world sees them as victims?

Golda Meir, former prime minister of Israel sadly reflects: “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate ours.”
