There are 42 active cases of Covid-19 in Tairāwhiti, according to the latest Ministry of Health figures released at 1pm on Sunday.

Since the first case of Covid was discovered in New Zealand in late February 2020, Tairāwhiti has recorded 24,527 cases, including 35 deaths.

New Zealand has recorded 4303 active cases, 3172 deaths and 2.4m reported cases.

Of the 20 whose deaths were reported on Sunday, seven were from Auckland region, one was from Waikato, one was from Bay of Plenty, one was from Lakes, one was from Hawke’s Bay, two were from MidCentral, three were from Nelson Marlborough, two were from Canterbury and two were from Southern.

One was in their 30s, one was in their 60s, four were in their 70s, 10 were in their 80s and four were aged over 90.

Of these people, nine were women and 11 were men.
