THE second instalment of Gisborne District Council rates is due to be paid by this Friday, November 20.

“We are reminding people to check their latest invoice and make sure its paid on time,” said operations group manager Barry Vryenhoek.

Payments made by post, in person or online need to be received by 5pm on Friday and anyone with an automatic payment should check that the amount due is covered in full.

A 10 percent penalty will apply to any amounts not paid on the due date. Earlier this year the council resolved to remove an additional 5 percent penalty normally sent out in January.

“We are very fair and reasonable with repayment options. Anyone with concerns about paying on time can come and talk to us. An Easy Pay direct debit is also an option which means you don’t need to worry about late payments.”

Ratepayers can also apply now for a rates rebate of up to $610. For more information on rates or eligibility for rebates go to www.gdc.govt.nz/rates.

Contact the council customer services team to talk about payment options or rebates at Fitzherbert Street or Te Puia or call 867 2049.
