Mathew Bannister is not alone in his despair at people who use the blanket word “communism” in ignorance of its many forms.
He should be heartened by the imposing majority of voters who on Saturday favoured ostensibly left-wing parties in spite of the childish barbs that were fired at themin recent weeks.
Even more ignorant is the conflation of “communism” and “socialism”, as if the latter is automatically evil, when in fact it is entirely inspired by love of humanity.
Its opposite, antisocialism, is unambiguously hatred of the same.
