Central School held its annual cross-country event at Waiteata Park on Monday. Principal Stu Barclay said it was great to hold it at the park which was right on the school’s doorstep and where students do a lot of planting and are kaitiakitanga.

“Each student does an event of their choice, either the competitive event where they can be selected for the Interschool Cross Country event in three weeks time or a one lap challenge event,” he said.

“The course is a little challenging with some uphill and then running through the bush area of the park through the path. We also hold a fun run later in the year when the weather is warmer.”
