FIREFIGHTERS were called to the forecourt of the Z service station in Gladstone Road this morning after a small fire started in a vehicle parked at one of the petrol pumps.

The call to emergency services was made at about 10.40am.

“Staff at the service station put out the fire under the vehicle’s bonnet with a dry powder extinguisher,” a senior firefighter said.

“They also immediately isolated the station’s fuel pumps.

“They did really well,” he said.

The fire was out when firefighters arrived.

“The fire crew made sure the vehicle was safe.

“The fire appears to have been ?started by some sort of electric ?fault.”

The Honda CRV sustained some minor damage in the incident.

No one was injured.
