Car crashes through fence at Mangapapa

A car with two people in it left Ormond Road in Mangapapa on Sunday morning, crashed through a fence and came to rest against the porch of a house.

It happened at around 6.45am.

“It was unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the road,” a senior firefighter said.

“The driver was transported to Gisborne Hospital for a check-up.”

At 4.30pm on Sunday, Fire and Emergency NZ sent a crew to Sirrah Street at Okitu, northern Wainui, in response to a small vegetation fire.

“It was out on arrival,” the senior firefighter said.

At midnight on Sunday, FENZ was called to Sponge Bay where a van was on fire. It was burnt out.
