It has been a “wow” week for SuperGrans Tairawhiti.
In response to its appeal for duvet inners and outers to help people struggling financially keep warm this winter, more than 100 duvets, pillows and other items of linen had been donated.
SuperGrans Tairawhiti manager Linda Coulston said they had been“inundated” with items and wanted to thank the Gisborne community for its heart-warming generosity,
“We’ve been blown away with the response. A lot of these will end up along the Coast,” she said.
“We had around eight whanau in Wednesday who will certainly put these to great use.”
SuperGrans Tairawhiti social worker field co-ordinator Janine Ehu said some people had helped because they had been in the same situation themselves and were “paying it forward”.
Mrs Coulston also thanked The Gisborne Herald for helping them get the message out there.
