SECOND CLEAN UP: The city beaches will need to be cleaned again of debris after the storm event last week dumped many tonnes of fresh driftwood along the shore. The stretch of beach from The Cut to just past Midway was only recently cleaned at a cost of $38,500. “Waikanae
and Midway beaches were looking really awesome too,” the council said on social media. “Give us a few weeks to sort through a plan with the contractor to have the job done by the start of the summer school holidays. Thanks for all the offers of help with another clean up, we really appreciate it, but for health and safety reasons we'll need to use machinery for the job.” Picture by Liam Clayton
