Autumn, season of falling leaves, harvest . . . and the pong of ripe ginkgo berries splattered on city pavements.
This is not only a health and safety concern that pedestrians might slip and fall, but an even greater concern that the public are becoming a road hazard as they
venture out on the busy Fitzherbert roundabout road to avoid standing on them, and so taking the foul smell back home on their shoes.
For several years I have made an annual request to have these non-indigenous trees removed. The last council reply I had was that it would be attended to when the council buildings were completed . . . obviously that needs to be actioned, and hopefully before the next wet Farmers’ Market day.
