Another Tairāwhiti resident has died of Covid-19, taking this district’s death tally to 39.

Figures updated at 2pm on Monday show Tairāwhiti has 20 active cases and a total of 25,338 cases since Covid-19 broke out in early 2020.

There are 4013 active cases in New Zealand and the total death toll is 346.

Te Whatu Ora say there are currently 193 Covid patients in hospital and four in ICU.

A total of 2,481,834 people have had Covid-19.

Te Whatu Ora have recorded 32 other deaths in the country in the last week: two were from Northland, eight from Auckland one was from Waikato, two were from Rotorua, one was from Tairāwhiti, one was from Hawke’s Bay, one was from Taranaki, two were from MidCentral, two were from Wellington region, nine were from Canterbury and four were from Otago and Southland.

Two were in their 50s, three were in their 60s, nine were in their 70s, 12 were in their 80s and seven were aged over 90.

Of these people, 19 were women and 14 were men.
