All bulls sell at Kenhardt and Turiroa

The East Coast Angus bull sales ended with a flourish in Nuhaka and Wairoa on Wednesday with Kenhardt and Turiroa studs completely sold out.

Kenhardt Angus at Nuhaka sold 48 out of 48 rising two-year-old bulls they put up for sale by auction on-farm.

The Crawshaw team realised a sale average of $9854, with a top price of $21,000.

They sold four bulls on transfer — Lot 6 for $20,000 to Tarangower Angus, Lot 7 $21,000 to Braeval Angus, Lot 12 $11,000 to Timperlea Angus and Lot 13 $15,000 to Kaiwara Angus.

“It was a fantastic sale, which demonstrated the stud’s strong local commercial following,” said PGG Wrightson genetics representative Emma Pollitt.

“There were numerous stud bulls sold around the country.

“Credit to the Kenhardt team for producing such a hotly contested line of bulls,” she said.

The Powdrell family from Turiroa Angus near Wairoa enjoyed a total clearance too, with 47 out of 47 bulls sold at auction.

The stud’s average price across those sales was $12,861.

Their top price, for Lot 2, was $42,000, sold on transfer to Whenuapapa and Tapiri Angus Studs.

“It was another strong sale for the Turiroa team,” Ms Pollitt said.

“They put up a line of bulls that covered a range of requirements for their loyal clientele, ensuring all buyers secured bulls to suit their programmes.

“After losing Rick Powdrell at the end of last year, I’m sure he would’ve been very proud of the catalogue and the result it produced.”
