Re: ‘Shop local’ great advice, July 8 letter by N. Miller

Yes, “shop local” certainly did not come into consideration when the decision-making panel appointed Belgravia.

Perhaps that is because, as previously mentioned, one of that panel was an outsider and three of the others had a combined total of about eight years in our region.

For the record, Comet has done and will continue to provide approx. 300 free lessons annually. The club doesn’t blow its trumpet about this because the club has always worked for the community, and actions and service does the talking.

With regard to lessons in te reo, the club already provides for this.

I believe there is support among the councillors for the Comet issue, however, I also believe they are not allowed to speak publicly on the matter.
