I’d like to write about the dozy drivers we have in Dizzy Gisborne, especially at our local McDonald’s drive-in.
There are two bold yellow lines indicating to drivers to stop there until the order speaker is vacated by the vehicle in front, but dopey drivers fail to think of pedestrianswho may be disabled or in a wheelchair and move over the yellow line to actually block the footpath leading to McDonald’s — which serves no purpose, as they can’t be served or give their order until they move up to the furthermost order speaker. The only thing they achieve with their selfish driving is to block the foothpath.
Last Friday night I was tooted at by a young lady in a yellow vehicle when I was walking down the McDonald’s footpath with my daughter — she wanted me off it so she could move on to the footpath and block it; it did not matter that she wasn’t going to be served any faster!
I would like to see the management of McDonald’s take the initiative and police this problem area. Both able-bodied and disabled customers alike should not have to navigate around thoughtless drivers who block the public pathway to McDonald’s.
As someone who has lived all his life in Gisborne, I have seen the driving capacity of locals diminish in leaps and bounds. Just look at the long lines at various roundabouts. The carry-on at McDonald’s is a flow-on example of bad, self-absorbed driving.
I worry about the day we have a real tsunami warning, as nobody would get out due to roads being blocked and jammed by inconsiderate drivers. Just typical Dizzy Gizzy driving at its worst . . .
