WHALE Rider author Witi Ihimaera will take a break from his holiday in Gisborne next week to make a presentation at a kaumatua/elders’ computer course.

In a session called Memories, Mr Ihimaera will help participants to identify and write about memories that have significance in their lives.

Born in Gisborne, Mr Ihimaera is the author of several novels that include The Matriarch, Nights in the Gardens of Spain and The Parihaka Woman.

He has also published 20 collections of short stories and the play, Woman Far Walking.

In the past 12 months he has been involved in making a documentary about Maori war graves in Tunisia. The documentary screens on Anzac Day.
