Auditions continue on Sunday for Gisborne Unity Theatre's newest play, The Wolves by Sarah de Lappe.

Director Iscah Montgomerie was thrilled with the high calibre of talent that auditioned last weekend and was looking forward to seeing more this Sunday.

“I'm calling more aspiring young female actors who want to sink their teeth into a meaty role, and I'm still casting the role of football mum,” she said.

“This is a pivotal role that requires the actor to tap into a depth of emotion.”

The Wolves was written in 2016 and named as a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

It chronicles six Saturday mornings in the lives of nine adolescent girls as they warm up for their weekly football match in the high school league.

While they warm up they navigate the politics of the wider world along with their personal lives.

There will be a lot of carefully choreographed scenes and actors will need to have a good level of fitness.

Once Iscah casts the play she will run a workshop to confirm the parts.

Scripts can be collected from the i-SITE and people can call Heather at Unity Theatre to book an audition on 027 688 1337.
