Also stars Emjay Anthony, Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson and John Leguizamo, with nice cameos from Dustin Hoffman, Oliver Platt and Robert Downey, Jr.

Suffragette — Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter and Carey Mulligan star in film focusing on one woman’s experience of the early-20th Century women’s suffrage movement.

Noma: A Perfect Storm — Film on chef Rene Redzepi, multiple winner of the award for Best Restaurant In The World, and how his culinary philosophy has shaped the success of his Copenhagen restaurant, Noma.

Robinson Crusoe — Animated take on Daniel Defoe’s stranded-sailor classic, with the story told from the viewpoint of the animals on the island Crusoe makes his home. The animals are happy on their island Eden, and even get used to this new creature and his dog. But two nasty castaway cats threaten the harmony.

Orphans and Kingdoms — Returning to his Waiheke Island home, a man is bound and beaten by three fugitive kids. Exposed to the helplessness of his tormentors, he is forced to face demons in his own past.

Odeon Multiplex tel: 867 3339Eye in the Sky — Thriller starring Helen Mirren as an officer in charge of a drone operation to capture terrorists in Kenya. Intelligence indicates the targets are planning a suicide bombing, so the operation becomes a “kill” mission. But late in the piece a child enters the kill zone.

Mother’s Day — Comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Jason Sudeikis. Three generations come together in the week leading up to Mother’s Day.

Captain America: Civil War — Collateral damage in an Avengers operation brings political pressure for a system of accountability for the superheroes. This splits the Avengers into camps led by Captain America and Ironman. Good reviews.

Eddie The Eagle — Based on a true story, Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman star in this comedy-drama about the efforts of British ski jumper Michael “Eddie” Edwards to make the 1988 Winter Olympics.

The Jungle Book — New take on Rudyard Kipling’s beloved stories in which man-cub Mowgli (Neel Sethi) must save himself and all the animals of the jungle from tiger Shere Kahn.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant — Tris and Four leave the city, and what they find shocks them.

The Boss — Melissa McCarthy plays a wealthy CEO who loses everything through insider trading and makes a business comeback by way of a kiddie troop selling brownies.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War — Freya the Ice Queen brings her sister Ravenna back to life, and they plan to conquer the Enchanted Forest. Only The Huntsman and his lover Sara can stop them.

Zootopia (2D, 3D) — Animated flick about city comprising habitat neighbourhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople — From writer/director Taika Waititi and based on a Barry Crump book. A defiant city kid, his cantankerous “uncle” and a dog go on the run.

Kung Fu Panda 3 — As villainous Kai sweeps across China, Po must train a village of his clumsy relatives to become the ultimate band of kung fu pandas.

Mahana — Lee Tamahori directed this film based on Witi Ihimaera’s novel Bulibasha. Temuera Morrison, Nancy Brunning, Jim Moriarty and Tolaga Bay’s Akuhata Keefe star in a tale of two shearing families’ rivalry.
