“What is true sometimes is not. Think deeper,” is the message behind Gisborne-based act BrazilBeat Sound System’s recently-released song Propaganda Machine.
“The daily news brings us those pictures of death and destruction,” says BrazilBeat Sound System musician Mara Weiss in her manifesto.
“Those pictures of pain and suffering. The pictures
of incompetent leaders. We watch all those pictures and feel a pain in the pit of our stomach. And we think about them later. Don’t we? How can we not? We must. Because we’re human.
“But what if we watch those pictures and feel nothing at all? What if those pictures were all a lie?
“It’s a freakin’ free-for-all right now, images exploding out of every device, enveloping us. The bots know us already, and feed us each day more of what they have learned we like.
