The full-noise, high-energy show, Tina – Simply The Best was due to stride across the War Memorial Theatre stage in March but was postponed because of the Covid-19 alert response. Sure, we don't need another hero, but Tina Turner tribute artist Caroline Borole is now to bring her powerhouse vocals,
band, brass section, backing vocalists and dancers to Gisborne early next month.
Borole's playlist is peppered with the Queen of Rock ‘n' Roll's powerhouse stompers and soulful RnB hits such as Simply the Best, What's Love Got to Do With It, Proud Mary, Nutbush City Limits, We Don't Need Another Hero, What You Get is What You See, Private Dancer, and Borole's favourite, River Deep Mountain High.
Renowned for her energetic performances, raspy vocals, short skirts and big hair, The Queen of Rock ‘n' Roll retired before the release of the compilation album, Love Songs. Rolling Stone ranked her 63rd on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time and 17th on its list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.
Introduced as a 10-year old to Turner's 1961 album, The Soul of Ike & Tina Turner, Borole developed a love of jazz and blues genres, and of Turner's confidence and high energy. When her career path led to Showtime Australia, the singer toured as a backup vocalist for the company's largest productions, The Greatest Love of All: Whitney Houston Show and the Michael Jackson History Show.
Showtime Australia director, Johnny Van Grinsven hand-picked her for the lead role of Turner in Tina: Simply the Best.
