Puketoro Station, inland from Tokomaru Bay, will host its 10th annual on-farm sale on Wednesday.

The sale begins at noon, at 1754 Ihungia Rd.

A Central Livestock spokesman said the McNeil family will have 7300 sheep and 1160 cattle on offer.

As usual, it is expected the sale will attract a big crowd of buyers and supporters.

“There will be 2000 2th [two-tooth] Romdale ewes, 2500 5yr Romdale ewes, 800 2th Coopworth ewes, 600 4th Coopworth ewes, 400 6th Coopworth ewes, 200 year ewes, plus 800 2th Coopdale ewes,” an agent spokesman said.

“In the cattle there will be 960 15-month Angus steers (weight ranged from 430 to 350 kgs), and 200 15-month Angus heifers (weight ranged from 350 to 280 kgs).

“The cattle will be sold 30 minutes after the conclusion of the sheep,” he said.

Lunch and light refreshments will, as usual, be provided.

“McNeil Farming is proud to be able to offer buyers an outstanding lineup of ewes, steers and heifers.

“Off the high country at the foot of Mount Hikurangi, buyers can have confidence in the ability of stock from Puketoro Station to shift well.”
