The Piano Extravaganza is fast becoming a Gisborne institution, and the 12th iteration of the annual event is coming up fast on Queen's Birthday.
“It has been a delightfully successful concert over 12 years with only one break in 2020, when along with the rest of the world, no performingarts were happening anywhere,” said organiser Catherine Macdonald.
“But we were able to present the 10th Extravaganza at Labour Weekend instead, and 2021 and 2022 both returned to the traditional Queen's Birthday slot.”
Piano Extravaganza XII: Pianists Bronwen and Samantha Holdsworth, Coralie Hunter, Corey Lugtig, Catherine Macdonald, Sue McVey, Beverley Peach, Sean Scanlen and Trish Tattle, with students Pyper August, Monty Copeland, Te Rei Forbes, and Wairere Kutia, playing two, three, four (and even more) at a time, on one or two (or more) pianos.
Tea and coffee at the door. Bring your lunch. Admission is free but there is an optional koha or donation to performers for expenses and the piano maintenance fund. St Andrew's Church, 176 Cobden Street, Monday, June 6, 12.30pm.
