GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: The late Graham Brazier, who died in 2015, will be remembered with a show in Auckland on August 24. Picture supplied

Those of us who recall the late Graham Brazier’s post-show, and during-show, shenanigans at Hello Sailor’s sun-scorched concerts at the Soundshell, and notorious River Bar gig will feel a pang on hearing of the rocker’s One Night Only All Stars Extravaganza Show & Vinyl Release Party.

Songs like Gutter Black, and Brazier’s ode to a Venetian-blue glass syringe, Blue Lady, chimed with the nostalgie de la boue of the 1970s. Brazier suffered a heart attack in 2015, and died in Auckland on September 4 in the same year, but the rocker’s music lives on. The third anniversary of his death and his musical legacy is now to be commemorated with a three-hour, one-off show when New Zealand’s music royalty get together to perform Hello Sailor and Brazier solo originals. Original Hello Sailor remnants Harry Lyon, Rick Ball, Paul Woolright, along with Jimmy Taylor will be joined by music legends Rooda’s NZ Party Boys including Peter Warren (DD Smash), Revox (DD Smash), Malcolm Foster (Pretenders), John Kempt, Karl Benton, Rikki Morris, Tony Waine, Larry Morris, Walter Bianco, Ted Clarke, Tony Painting, Gary Verberne and Kurt Shanks. Special guests Jordan Luck, Larry Morris, Hammond Gamble, Boh Runga and other NZ greats will turn up on the night. Brazier supported young and upcoming talent so the all stars extravaganza will introduce funky young band Half Moon Baby.

Graham Brazier’s One Night Only All Stars Extravaganza Show, The Studio, 340 Karangahape Road, Auckland, August 24. Tickets available from http://www.eventfinda.co.nz
