If you have oily skin, lemon is an ideal ingredient for you as it can get rid of the grease that can cause shine and breakouts. Simply apply fresh lemon juice to your face with a cotton ball, keeping in mind that it could sting a little on sensitive skin. Due to its astringent properties, it should only be used at night, and be sure to slather on the sun screen the next day.
3. Blackheads
If you suffer from blackheads, lemon can be beneficial as it helps remove the build-up of excess oil on skin. It can also work as an antibacterial, giving your skin a deep clean and removing toxins. Apply lemon juice to the affected area at night, and then allow to set for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water, and be sure not to use this method if you are heading out in the sun.
4. Redness
If your skin experiences redness because of the sun, diet, pimples or allergies, lemon can help. In a similar way to the blackhead treatment, just apply lemon juice to the red area of skin (at night time only), leave for 15 minutes and then rinse off.
5. Deodorant
The skin under your arms is sensitive and many people suffer from itchiness or redness from commercial deodorants. Lemon can be used as an alternative for deodorant as the citric acid kills the bacteria that can cause odour.
6. Nails
Our nails can become weak or stained due to over-washing of hands, use of chemicals, smoking or nail biting. To strengthen and clean up your fingernails, make a solution of one teaspoon lemon juice and two tablespoons olive oil. Rub into your nails before bed to give them some TLC.
7. Lips
Your lips can be affected by exposure to sun, wind, heat and cold, so it’s essential to look after them. To remove dead skin and add moisture, dab some fresh lemon juice on your lips before bed.
