AMONG the two acts lined up over the next two nights at Smash Palace is guitarist Ben Wilkinson.
Now resident in Gisborne, the Nelson-born musician describes his sound as electronic folk but tomorrow night he strips back his performance to electric and acoustic guitar with kick drum and tambourine.
His
repertoire will be 50-50 original music and covers that range from Fat Freddy’s Drop to Van Morrison.
On Saturday night, Gisborne-based four piece cover band The Ashes, which is made up of Darryl Monteith on guitar and vocals, Jason Grout on keyboard and backing vocals, Moses Hiakita on bass and bvs and drummer Dion Whaanga, will take the stage.
The band plays a polished repertoire of classic hits and dance-floor tunes with a strong Kiwi influence.
