Twelve years have passed since the national country music awards were held in these parts but on Saturday and Sunday the Gisborne Country Music Club will host the Gisborne Country Music Awards at Lawson Field Theatre.
Gisborne singer Zandria Taare was the overall winner of the event the last time
it was held in Gisborne.
This time she will feature as special guest at the awards that are made up of gospel, western, old time, yodelling, waiata Maori, country rock; solo, duo and groups categories.
Veteran and senior overall winners of the country music nationals will be eligible to compete in the Entertainer of the Year Awards in Taupo.
The Gisborne Country Music Awards will be held at Lawson Field Theatre. Auditions will be held on Saturday from 8am. Entry — adults $8, children $2, pre-schoolers free. The finals concert will be held on Sunday from 1pm. Entry — adults $15, children $5.
