The weekend is shaping up to be a goodie with a smorgasbord of local bands serving up a feast of classic rock called Summer Soundscape at Smash Palace on Saturday.

Event organiser and musician Vincent Hogan said people could expect a diverse range of music that would be accessible to everyone.

“The main genre will be rock, but there will also be more mellow acoustic music by solo artists. I recommend people get there early,” he said.

Vincent (bass guitar/vocals) has been playing in bands for more than 20 years and is currently in about five bands with a Metallica tribute band his main staple.

He started an events company two years ago called Enter Nights Events and hopes Summer Soundscape will become an annual gig.

This Saturday he will play with new band Sunder made up of Joe Carroll (guitar), Pete Wanoa (drums) Dave Rothschild (guitar).

“I’ve always wanted to create a rock band and we’ll be playing a range of music from Creedence Clearwater Revival to Blindspot covers.”

They’ve been practising for around five weeks and are sounding pretty polished.

“We’ve got a lot of experienced musicians in the band so it’s coming together nicely,” he said.
