Janes says the film is aimed at giving Divis (1885-1967) the recognition he deserves as a street photographer ahead of his time. Divis worked in West Coast coal and gold mines, and was interned on Somes Island in World War 2 as an enemy alien. His photos record Depression life, and he was in half of them, causing some to say he was the inventor of the selfie.
