Lady Macbeth: In mid-19th century rural England, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage to a much older man begins a passionate affair with a man her own age, and stops at nothing to get what she wants.
This Beautiful Fantastic: A would-be children’s author must tidy her garden or be evicted. She befriends a gruff neighbour who likes gardening.
A Date for Mad Mary: Mary’s best friend is getting married and she is to be maid of honour. Denied a “plus one” invitation because her friend says she probably couldn’t find a date, Mary sets out to prove her wrong.
Spookers: Florian Habicht documentary about the horror theme park occupying the old Kingseat psychiatric hospital.
The Free Man: Documentary directed by Toa Fraser (The Dead Lands) and built around encounters between Kiwi freestyle skier Jossi Wells and The Flying Frenchies, known for their base jumps, wingsuit flying and tightrope walks.
The Changeover: Film adaptation of Margaret Mahy young adults’ novel, set in Christchurch and starring Erana James, Melanie Lynskey, Lucy Lawless, Kate Harcourt and British actor Timothy Spall. A troubled teenager must “change over” and become a witch in order to save her little brother from an evil ancient spirit.

Gisborne Artists’ Society: is sponsoring a one day print-making workshop at the Lysnar House studios on Saturday, 14th October. New Zealand Print Council president Kathy Boyle will be focusing on aluminium rather than zinc plate. Aluminium is a much cheaper material and is processed in an alternative method in order to produce images. To enrol, email Teressa at ben.teressa@vodafone.co.nz or normanmaclean@ihug.co.nz.
