Bellbird: A Northland rural community rallies round a farmer after his wife dies. Directed by Hamish Bennett and starring Marshall Napier, Cohen Holloway and Rachel House. “At times it can be mistaken for an out-and-out comedy, but Bellbird is wonderfully tender and emotive,” according to one review.
Last Christmas: Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Emma Thompson star in a romantic comedy about an unlucky young woman who accepts a job as a department store elf, then meets Tom. Features songs by George Michael and Wham!
Doctor Sleep: Film based on the 2013 novel by Stephen King, which is a sequel to King’s 1977 novel The Shining. Set several decades after the events of The Shining, the film combines elements of the novel and its 1980 film adaptation directed by Stanley Kubrick. Mike Flanagan wrote, directed and edited the film, and said he would try to reconcile the differences between The Shining novel and film. Ewan McGregor plays a man who has psychic abilities but struggles with childhood trauma.
Terminator: Dark Fate: A direct sequel to The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). It is the first film in the series since Terminator 2 with franchise creator James Cameron on board (as co-producer). Stars Linda Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes and Gabriel Luna.
Hillary: Ocean to Sky: Michael Dillon, a member of Sir Edmund Hillary’s Ocean to Sky expedition in 1977, put together a documentary, From the Ocean to the Sky, released in 1979. Now he presents his revisited version of the film. Expedition members were to travel the length of the Ganges in jet boats, then climb a peak above the headwaters.
Jojo Rabbit: Kiwi director Taika Waititi stars as Hitler — the imaginary friend and “life coach” of a Hitler Youth youngster who discovers his mother is harbouring a Jew.
Judy: Thirty years after starring in The Wizard of Oz, beloved actress and singer Judy Garland (Renee Zellweger) arrives in London to perform sold-out shows at the Talk of the Town nightclub.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil : Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) is back and not happy about Princess Aurora telling her she’s getting married to Prince Phillip, and is even more put out when Phillip’s mum (Michelle Pfeiffer) says it’s time for Aurora to have “a real mother”.
Ride Like A Girl: Feelgood Aussie movie, directed by Rachel Griffiths and starring New Zealand’s Sam Neill, about Michelle Payne — the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup (2015).

Armstrong: Documentary on the life of Moon-landing pioneer Neil Armstrong tells of his experiences as a fighter pilot, test pilot and astronaut, and of the challenges that accompanied fame.
Yuli: Biopic about Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta — the first black dancer to perform some of the most famous ballet roles.
Animals: Long-time friends and party-lovers Laura and Tyler navigate life and love in Dublin. However, the girls drift apart when Laura becomes engaged.
Maiden: Documentary about British sailor Tracy Edwards, who assembled the world’s first all-female crew to compete in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race.
