Captain Marvel: Brie Larson plays a former fighter pilot whose DNA is fused with that of a Kree in an accident, giving her superhuman strength and energy projection. Film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Annette Bening and Jude Law.

Bohemian Rhapsody: One of two films (The Favourite is the other) returning after Academy Award success. Rami Malek received the best-actor Oscar for his portrayal of Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury up to the band’s 1985 Live Aid performance.

The Favourite: Stellar cast — best-actress Oscar winner Olivia Colman as Queen Anne, Rachel Weisz as Sarah Churchill and Emma Stone as Abigail Masham — portray a female triangle of affection and influence in 18th century England.

Greta: Isabelle Huppert plays an eccentric piano teacher who befriends a naive young woman (Chloe Grace Moretz) but whose behaviour become disturbing.

Celia: Amanda Millar directed this film on Celia Lashlie, the first female prison officer in a male prison in New Zealand. Lashlie fought to get people the tools for making responsible decisions.

A Dog’s Way Home: A dog (voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard) travels over 400 miles to find her owner.

Stan & Ollie: Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly star as Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy in a film focusing on a music hall tour of Britain and Ireland in 1953 as the duo struggle to get another film made.

Escape Room: Psychological horror film that follows a group of people who are sent to navigate a series of escape rooms, but who find the consequences are deadly.

Alita: Battle Angel: American cyberpunk action film based on a Japanese graphic novel series. In 2563, a cyborg scientist discovers a disembodied female cyborg with a human brain, rebuilds the cyborg and names her Alita, after his late daughter.

Green Book: A bouncer from The Bronx is hired to drive a black pianist on a tour to the Deep South in the 1960s. The Green Book guides them to places that are safe.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World: Hiccup has created a dragon utopia, but danger threatens the village he and Toothless call home.

The Price of Everything: Director Nathaniel Kahn examines how the work of some artists draws multimillion-dollar bids at auction while the work of others, for no easily understood reason, goes almost unnoticed.

The Guilty: A Danish thriller in which a police officer demoted to desk work has to use all of his intuition and skill to find a kidnapped woman and her assailant while confined to the police station.
