48 HOURS: The Evolution Theatre Company is once again holding its fast-paced 48-hour play festival. Registrations are open now for actors, writers and directors. Picture supplied
Two actors, one writer, and one director are the minimum requirements for Evolution Theatre Company’s Tairawhiti 48-hour play festival.
A fifth member can join to deal with technical challenges. The concept is simple — create and perform an original 10-minute play in just 48 hours. Teams are to be madeup of a minimum of four members and costumes and props must be comprised of items found on team members’ premises.
Registrations for the festival close September 3 at 7pm, and the festival starts at 7pm on September 4 when entrants will be given the theme, prop and text they must work with.
On Sunday, September 6 at 7pm, at Evolution Theatre, 75 Disraeli Street, the plays will be performed before a live audience.
Tickets are $15 and attendees will be given a ballot and asked to score the plays. The team with the most votes for the best play wins an exciting award.
