A banjele and bass guitar bring broader textures to Gisborne’s ukekele-based ensemble, the G’Zukers Good Time Band who bring their summertime sound to Matawhero Wines on Sunday.
“We have a couple of Gillian Welch songs the banjele goes really well with and the bass gives real depth to our group,”
says G’Zuker Sheridan Gundry.
“We’ve been together for quite a while now and work well together with singing and harmonies.”
A repertoire put together by Marty Reynolds (left), Greg Harman, Sheridan Gundry, Mike Eriksen, Mary Hope and Hugo McGuinness caters for all ages.
“We play old standards from the 1920s through modern songs. We have music from New Zealand and Australia that includes songs by Neil Finn and Paul Kelly,” says Gundry.
