The theme of “around the world” includes Te Harinui from Aotearoa, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, We Three Kings, and The first Noel.
For the first time, Carols in the Vines will hold a Nativity scene character competition for children. The Vines has sponsored prizes for the best Nativity scene character. A parade will end with a Nativity scene to accompany carols such as Away in a Manger (first verse to be sung by children) Silent Night, and Once in Royal David’s City.
Schoolgirl soprano Rosie West will lead the carol O Holy Night while everyone will join the Christmas joy themed selection of carols such as Ding Dong Merrily on High, O Come All ye Faithful, and finish with the rousing We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Guest items include songs by a capella group Savvy, choral society singers who have been polishing up Ray Charles’ jazz arrangement of Jingle Bells and the African Noel accompanied by drumming.
Carollers are invited to bring a picnic to share with family and friends. Platters and a sausage sizzle will also be available.
