You've just finished work on a sunny Friday afternoon, you're parked up with a mate overlooking the coast, and you crack a well-deserved ice-cold beer. A track comes on that's got a fat, bouncy groove. It's dubby and bass heavy but got some cool melodies.
And that, says Australian songwriter/musician
Ham Blacket, is the Drop Legs sound. The band's new single encapsulates that feel.
“Our new single ECP is about living and touring along the beautiful and wild East Coast of Australia. It has a prominent driving bass line, a The Specials' Ghost Town-style synth line and some nice keys and skanks.”
The band's name came from a Jamaican patois book the musicians happened to flick through.
“We found this phrase “drop legs” which meant to bust out and dance.”
