Young siblings, and multiple music competition winners, Christine Yesol Jeon (cello) and Samuel Woosol Jeon (piano) perform over two dates next week as part of the Tiromoana summer concert series.
The programme for Samuel's solo recital on Friday, January 15, includes works by Schumann, Beethoven, Ravel, and Cesar Frank.
Accompanied
by the brother and sister's aunt, Mijin Jeon, on Sunday, January 17, Christine will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Bohuslav Martinu.
Now 13 years old, Christine started learning the cello as a six-year-old, and piano from age five with Aunty Mijin Jeon. In 2016 and 2018, she participated in the National Concerto Competition.
Earlier this year, she and Les Apaches piano trio made the national final of the NZCT Chamber contest where they performed the Ravel Piano Trio in A minor. Christine recently performed in a solo recital sponsored by the Maurice Carter Charitable Trust.
