Bruce said a friend had lost all of his music equipment during the floods.
“More than a metre of water had flowed through his house and I went over to help by shovelling silt, but there is only so much we can do with physical labour.”
Bruce recalled getting a call from his friend Nikita, who asked if there was anything she can do to help. She was added to the list of “big names” for the event.
Local production company Rāngai will provide a live stream for those outside the region who wish to tune in and koha for the cause with 100 percent of funds raised to be donated to the Tairāwhiti Disaster Relief Trust.
