A BAROQUE cello, organ and harpsichord will feature in Julien Hainsworth and Chris Hainsworth’s concert in Gisborne on Monday. Known as the Rata-tui Duo the father and son duo will perform works by Handel, Bach and Vivaldi as well pieces by 16th century composers such as Diego Ortiz Ricercadas andFrancesco Rognoni.
The repertoire includes Julien’s performance of Jean-Baptiste Barriere’s Sonata no.4 for cello and continuo, while Chris will play Johann Kuhnau’s biblical sonata for keyboard, Hezekiah Restored to Health. A “surprise” is also promised.
Julien Hainsworth grew up in the South of France where he studied modern cello before specialising in baroque cello.
His father Chris Hainsworth grew up in Wellington where he learned the organ and studied languages and music at Victoria University before heading for Toulouse to complete his doctorate.
