THE annual tourism spend in Gisborne has gone up 6 percent, according to the latest monthly regional tourism estimates released by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
December’s tourism spend was up 20 percent from last December. The tourism spend for Gisborne was estimated at $143 million for
the year to December 2017, up 6 per cent compared with the year to December 2016.
Of this tourism spend, international visitors spent $28 million (up 13 percent compared with the year to December 2016), and domestic tourists spent $115 million (up 4 per cent) in that period.
