Businesses will tomorrow have the opportunity to discuss whether or not Silicon Valley-style business clusters could work here.

Trust Tairawhiti is sponsoring three free workshops in August and September to help businesses move forward post Covid-19.

The first of these is tomorrow at 3pm at the Waikanae Surf Life Saving Club. Ifor Ffowcs-Williams from Cluster Navigators will lead the workshop with his presentation “Clustering for Business Growth an International Perspective”. He will give international examples of successful clusters.

Business clusters are a natural collection of businesses often in a specific geographic area. The most famous business cluster in the world would be Silicon Valley in California. Here firms compete on points of differentiation and collaborate by way of networking and sharing some but not all their ideas and expertise.

The workshop will examine if clustering could work here.

Food labelling will be the focus of the second workshop, on August 13. The third workshop on September 14, will cover “Demystifying the new product development process”.
