Roadshow’s aim is to help take care of your business

GOVERNMENT representatives will be in town next week to improve the efficiency of their dealings with local business owners.

As part of the Government’s Taking Care of Business roadshows, Small Business Minister Craig Foss and speakers from a variety of agencies, including Statistics NZ, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, ACC and IRD will be in Gisborne next Tuesday.

Mr Foss said the event would take place at noon at the Whitehouse, presenting a chance for local business owners to talk directly to the government agencies they dealt with day-to-day.

“There will be 16 Taking Care of Business events held around the country over the next few months.

“The aim is to help business owners engage with government agencies more effectively and efficiently.

“Whether it’s compliance, tax, surveys or trade and innovation, businesses spend a significant amount of time working with government agencies.

“We’d like to help make local businesses even more productive, so whether you run one of Gisborne’s nine packaging companies, 39 eateries or 63 mechanical businesses, come and ask our experts all your difficult questions.”

The event would also showcase what government support was available to businesses, and how businesses could find it.

It would also cover online services like Business.govt.nz, the Employment Agreement Builder or the Business Toolbox for market research, as well as providing information on the Regional Business Partner network, which helps with business advice, management training and getting funding for research and development.

Recent changes to health and safety legislation, tax, ACC and minimum employment standards would also be addressed.
