Gisborne Domino’s franchisee Dan Tan was awarded a coveted Leadership Eagle at the company’s annual awards ceremony this month.
Domino’s Leadership Eagle award celebrates those within the company who consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership and operational excellence all year around.
Mr Tan, who owns and operates Domino’s Gisborne, was recognised for his business
success and generous community spirit.
“I am honoured to be recognised with a Domino’s Leadership Eagle Award,” said Mr Tan.
“The past 12 months especially has reminded my team and I what a privilege it is to be active members of our local Gisborne community — from providing job opportunities that lead to life-long careers, to feeding local emergency services, volunteers and individuals who continually give back to the community, including those who were affected by the recent severe weather event in Cyclone Gabrielle.
“As soon as we regained power to the store, we knew we had to do something to help. And what better way than to deliver a safe, hot meal to those people who were in need.
“During that week we were able to donate more than 1000 pizzas to people doing it tough in evacuation centres and also local firefighters and police men and women who were doing what they could to keep our community and our people safe.
“From the bottom of my heart, I would like to say a sincere thank you to all the local pizza lovers who have supported my business and fundraising efforts throughout the years. Thank you.”
The award was announced at Domino’s Australia and New Zealand annual rally event at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, with Domino’s teams from both sides of the Tasman uniting for the ceremony.
Mr Tan started working at Domino’s Gisborne in 2006.
“After a few years learning the ropes and moving between roles from delivery expert to shift runner and store manager, I took on the role of franchisee in 2014.
“I am looking forward to celebrating 10 years as the local owner/operator of Domino’s Gisborne next year.”
The store now employs 41 local team members.
“Being able to provide job opportunities to those in my local community is very important to me — and a job at Domino’s is not only fun, but a great place to make friends and learn too,” he said.
“Domino’s Gisborne has been in business for almost 20 years, and ever since we opened we have been focused on local.
“It is all about servicing our local community and providing support — whether that is holding a ‘Doughraiser’ to raise funds for a school, sports team or charity, or donating a safe, hot meal to someone who is having a tough time. At Domino’s Gisborne, we believe everyone in Gizzy is whānau — and whānau help whānau, whānau support whānau.”
