A gathering of Gisborne’s accounting professionals celebrated the achievements of its Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand members last night at a gala dinner at the Bushmere Arms.

The night recognised those just joining the profession through to its milestone members and fellowship recipients.

The “Oscars” of the accounting world was presided over by CAANZ president Cassandra Crowley, with awards being presented to milestone members Daryl Keast for 40 years and Michael Muir for 50 years.

Fellowships went to Colin Christie, June Hall and Chris Torrie.

As a 2016 fellowship recipient, Ms Crowley described them as the “Queen’s Honours of the accounting world”.

“They are a very special award where you are nominated by your peers when you’ve made an outstanding contribution to the profession and the community.”

The Craig Norgate Scholarship was presented to Isaac Hughes. Others recognised on the night included David Battin, Damian Campbell and Phillipa McCulloch as chartered accountants; Angela Awarau, Calvin Hunt and Jody Wheeler as associate chartered accountants; and Jane Overbye as an accounting technician.
