Eastland Port has handled more than 215,000 tonnes of logs so far in May and the tally should climb by another 60,000 tonnes by the end of the month.

A port spokesperson said there have been eight log ships call here so far in May.

“There are another three more to come before the month ends.”

On top of that the coastal container ship Rangitata has called here three times. The Naruto Strait is pictured alongside yesterday loading logs.
