Organisers of this year's Westpac Tairawhiti Business Excellence Awards say entries so far have exceeded expectations.

Trust Tairawhiti, Westpac and the organising committee for the WTBEA awards are happy to have received 20 entries already, while still more than two weeks away from the closing date, event spokeswoman Prue Younger says.

“Judges have been selected for the 2021 awards and post the entry closing date they will venture out to spend time on-site with the entrants. The 10-person strong judging team is led by Richard Searle who will convene the final judging day.

“The campaign encourages businesses to take a holistic look into their business, checking all facets of a sustainable business and giving opportunity to test what is good practice.

“All entries into the awards campaign this year have the offer of mentor support to work through the entry application with them. Mentors offer three hours of support to provide direction, as the paperwork looks daunting. But when the business is able to work through the entry form systematically, combined with good information systems in-house, then the business is well over 50 percent there.”
