The double-header cruise ship visit on Monday went well with around 360 passengers ashore for the day from the Silver Muse and the smaller National Geographic Orion. The ships anchored out in Turanganui-a-Kiwa/Poverty Bay.

“The weather could have been a bit nicer but it was a successful day,” a spokesperson said.

“The passengers who came ashore from the ships went on the steam train, there were winery tours, farm visits, a cycle tour and other excursions. They had a great day.”

The next cruise ships to call will be the Star Breeze, back again on January 8, and the Coral Adventurer the next day.
