Scooter track opening day

Pupils, an MP, civic dignitaries and teachers were all at the official opening if a dedicated scooter track at Arataki School last week. In term two last year, the school’s learning focus was on community, with students exploring what the community can do for the school and what the school could do for the community. Room 15, a Year 5/6 class, started thinking about what they could do in the school to create something for the wider community to use. They came up with the idea to build a scooter track on our back field. Over the last term break that idea finally became a reality. The track was partially funded by the Tauranga City Council Community Development Match Fund and was built with the help of Bridgeman Concrete, Ian Kamo and The Concrete People and Bay Landscapes.
