Pupils from Fairhaven School in Te Puke filled the pontoon at Tauranga Harbour Bridge marina on Friday 4 March to see what their baited hooks could catch. Earlier in the week Kayaker Nathan Pettigrew spoke to pupils about cleaning up rubbish so the marine animals don't choke on plastic bags, get strangled by fishing lines or poisoned by pollution in the harbour and seas.

A huge $51,203 has been made from the sales of Alf Rendell's magnificent aerial shots of Tauranga - money that will be reinvested into future generations of photographers.

The Ballance Farm Environment Awards recognises and celebrates good farm practices which promotes sustainable land management through an annual awards programme which is now run in 10 regions throughout New Zealand. The 2016 Bay of Plenty Awards Evening was on 26 February.

The Spirit of Gold collection is touring New Zealand to increase awareness and raise funds to support the New Zealand Paralympic Games team on the road to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games and to support the growth of Para-Sport in New Zealand.
