The Southport Tigers under-15s travelled from Brisbane on Australia's Gold Coast to play the Otumoetai Eels at Mitchell Park on Saturday. It was the first time any of the boys had been to New Zealand and they were more than competitive for most of the game before the Eels won 40-28.

The inaugural DARE To Fight For Youth charity boxing event was held at the ASB Arena on Friday night. The evening attracted 947 people to the black tie event and $41,400 was raised to be used to deliver programmes and events for young people aged 5-18.
