Photos-Memorial parade at Tauranga Domain.

Many of those took the chance to parade pass the cenotaph including many of the veterans and members of the armed forces. This was followed by the breaking of drums as the New Zealand flag was raised. A karakia, or prayer, was recited by Komatua Huikakahu Kawe from Ngati Ranginui followed by an address by Mayor Stuart Crosby who welcomed dignitaries and veterans.

Lots of fun was to be had at the two-day Aongatete Music Festival at Katikati on Friday and Saturday. Informality was the key as local talent Wild Clovers and Australian band Wizard and Oz spearheaded the musical line up. George Novak was there.

Event a treat for triathletes

The Port of Tauranga Half is one of the highlights of the Western Bay’s summer sporting calendar. Craig Alexander and Gina Crawford both won their second titles on Saturday. The event also included junior competitors and the ever popular teams event. Photographer George Novak was there.
